LET US HELP YOU SAVE ON SHIPPING!

Simply give our office a call with dimensions and weight of a package and we will pass on our savings from  UPS  & Freight Carriers  to you!

Please consider the information below to ensure a safe delivery of your hides.
Shipping instructions: Follow the 9 step process listed below.

  1. Use a sturdy cardboard box that fits for shipment. **Do not ship your skins in plastic bag. Plastic retains moisture and heat which can speed up bacterial action and may cause slippage or leather rot.**
  2. We do not recommend shipping frozen specimens. If shipped frozen the customer assumes all liability.
  3. Remove staples, nails, wires, tags, etc. to prevent our fleshers from damaging the blade. We will charge you a regrinding blade fee if our blades are damaged as a result.
  4. Our shipping form needs to be completed. Print 3 copies: #1 Is for your records, #2 should be packed in box with the hides, and  #3 Mailed to Wildlifefur Dresssing directly. Download our shipping form and shipping stickers (see right side forms area).
  5. Always include on the shipping form and address stickers your name, business name, business address, phone number(s) and provide e-mails or simply affix your business card onto boxes and/or shipping form.
  6. Place the shipping form in an envelope and affix on top of the largest box being shipped.
  7. When shipping more than one box, always mark the number of boxes (example: box #1 of 2,  #2 of 2, etc.)
  8. Keep records of your tracking numbers provided by the carrier to confirm shipment delivered to us.
  9. If requesting different services on various items, please group items based on services in same box. Please make clear which are Wet, Dry or Specials.  View our Prepping Instructions to prevent cracks and/or breaks during shipping and rehydration process.

Wildlife Fur Dressing, Inc. no longer accepts any responsibility for hides that have not been coded with a taxidermist punch code. Please utilize your individual punch mark or customer identification marking.

Please make notation of skin(s) and inform your customer of potential problems if noticed during your initial inspection. Also, please provide us with a heads-up about problem areas.

Wildlife Fur Dressing, Inc. is not responsible for fresh, damp, or overly dried skins upon arrival.

UPS Parameters for Domestic Shipping

How to determine the actual weight

First, use a scale to determine the weight of the package. Round any fraction of a pound to the next whole pound for Express Envelopes (letters) over 8 oz. and all other packages. Letters less than or equal to 8 oz. will be billed the Letter rate. Letters greater than 8 oz. will be billed by weight (rounded up to the next whole pound). International letters of 2 lbs. or less will be billed Pak rates. Express Envelope (letter) shipments that do not exceed 8 oz. qualify for the Letter rate. International shipments sent in a UPS Pak that weigh 2 lbs. or less and do not exceed US$100.00 in declared customs value, qualify for the Pak rate.

Determine the Dimensional Weight

Next, determine the package dimensions in inches. Multiply the package length by the width by the height. For each dimension, measure at the longest point, rounding each measurement to the nearest whole number (for example, 1.00 to 1.49 will be considered 1, and 1.50 to 1.99 will be considered 2). The result is the cubic size in inches.

For domestic shipments: UPS Air Services shipments: Divide the cubic size in inches by 166 to determine dimensional weight in pounds. Increase any fraction to the next whole pound.

UPS Ground shipments: If the cubic size of the package in inches is 5,184 or larger, divide the cubic size by 166 to determine dimensional weight in pounds. If the cubic size in inches is less than 5,184, use the actual weight of the package.

Note: Size limits indicated by a box manufacturer may not reflect exterior dimensions of a package, including where a package may have bulges or otherwise may not be uniform across each plane, and should not be used as a substitute for actual length, width, and height measurements in determining dimensional weight.

Determine the Billable Weight

Compare the package's actual weight to the dimensional weight. The greater of the two is the billable weight and should be used to calculate the rate.

For multiple package shipments, total the billable weight of all packages in the shipment.

A Large Package Surcharge may apply to domestic and international shipments. A package is considered a "Large Package" when its length plus girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] combined exceeds 130 inches, but does not exceed the maximum UPS size of 165 inches.

Large Packages are subject to a minimum billable weight of 90 pounds. An Additional Handling charge will not be assessed when a Large Package Surcharge is applied.
